General Emergencies (112)

112 is the single emergency number throughout the European Union. In any serious situation — accident, fire, heart attack, or another life-threatening emergency — you should call 112. From this emergency coordination centre, fire services, ambulances, and law enforcement bodies such as the Local Police and Guardia Civil can be dispatched quickly and efficiently.

The 112 service operates 24 hours a day and accepts calls from both landlines and mobile phones. When calling, it is advisable to calmly provide your name, address or location reference in La Nucía, and the type of emergency.

La Nucía Local Police

The Local Police handle public safety matters within the municipality, including traffic control, minor accidents, public order, and less serious offences.

Their main headquarters are located at Av. de la Marina Baixa, 90, in central La Nucía, and their telephone number is 965 87 05 33.

Call 965 87 05 33 for incidents such as thefts from homes or vehicles within La Nucía, disturbances in public areas, neighbourhood disputes, or general security enquiries. Local officers patrol the streets and are familiar with the area, allowing them to respond efficiently to incidents within the municipality.

In very serious emergencies involving immediate danger, you can always call 112 first.

Guardia Civil – La Nucía Station

The Guardia Civil in La Nucía operates from the station at Av. Carretera, 56.

It deals with more serious offences and matters affecting rural areas, including violent robberies, road security, drug trafficking, traffic checks, and other criminal matters.

The contact number is 966 897 787.

It may be appropriate to contact the Guardia Civil in cases involving burglary with forced entry, suspected organised crime, or traffic enforcement matters outside the urban area. It is also responsible for public order in certain non-urban areas of La Nucía.

For general emergencies, you can first call 112 or the Local Police, but the Guardia Civil may intervene directly in more serious criminal cases.

Marina Baixa Hospital (La Vila Joiosa) – Emergency Department

La Nucía does not have its own hospital, so Marina Baixa Hospital in Villajoyosa is the nearest main hospital serving the area.

It is located at Av. Alcalde En Jaume Botella Mayor, s/n, 03570 La Vila Joiosa, Marina Baixa, Alicante.

Its main switchboard and emergency contact number is 966 907 200.

Use this service for serious medical emergencies requiring hospital treatment, such as heart attacks, traffic accidents involving injuries, serious wounds, or critical health conditions.

Marina Baixa Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department and advanced diagnostic facilities. In a medical emergency, you can request an ambulance by calling 112 or, if the person is stable and can be transported safely, go directly to Marina Baixa Hospital.

La Nucía Health Centre

The La Nucía Health Centre, located at Av. Portvilla, 36, is the local primary healthcare centre.

It handles general medical consultations and less serious urgent cases. Its telephone number is 966 816 330.

The centre operates from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for scheduled consultations, but also provides out-of-hours care: from Monday to Saturday between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., and 24 hours a day on Sundays and public holidays.

This means that for less serious urgent conditions such as gastroenteritis, sprains, or high fever during the night, you can call or attend the La Nucía Health Centre.

When calling or attending, explain that it is an urgent case. On-duty doctors can prescribe medication or stabilise temporary conditions.

For critical emergencies such as severe chest pain or breathing difficulties, it is better to call 112 or go directly to Marina Baixa Hospital.
